Who can say what the best country music is? My grandfather would have to tell you that the best country is the old timer songs. I would have to vote for the new and up beat country music myself. But, then again, there is the gospel country, classic and of course the 80s.

Honestly, the best country music is going to have to be decided by the person listening to it. Country is about how it makes you feel and what it does to you. If you are more entertained and moved by older country, than that is the best country for you.
Many critics believe that the best country is the stuff that is selling the best. But, the reason why it is selling is because no one has those albums. The older songs are already owned by the individuals. Therefore, why would you buy a second copy?
Since country is so diverse and its crowd follows that same pretense, there is no single style that is deemed the best. You are just going to have to listen to it yourself and choose which style that you most want to listen to. You can read as many opinions as you want, but your enjoyment can only be measured by yourself.
